Karihiekka is a sandy beach to the east of the lake Luonteri. It curves for 300m and its northern end forms a narrow bar towards the open water. Inland the sandy beach changes to a pine heath, which is bordered by steep rock walls shaped by fault zones. The walls also border the beach itself. The rocks represent the main types of rock in the area, mixed garnet-cordierite-mica gneiss intersected by wide and coarse grained granite veins. The area near Karihiekka is accessible by car, and the beach is home to an excursion harbour.
Karihiekka is located in Uimasalo. From the north, from the direction of the center of Juva, it is about 39 km to the Karihiekka junction on Viisalanmäentie road. The dirt road, turning to the right from Viisalanmäentie road, is another 600 meters. There is a car park at the end of the road. From the parking area a path descends to the Karihiekka beach. The path to the beach is steep.
